The Austral clothesline company has been around for about 30 years and they provide clotheslines that are made of a premium quality. Austral make their clotheslines right here in Melbourne Australia and are providers to some of the biggest names in the building industry because of their name for quality and price.
A breeze brake prevents a rotary style clothesline from spinning wildly on very windy days. Breeze brakes are currently available on all fixed and removable rotary products.
Galvanising is a method of corrosion control helping to stop rust from forming and creating a pleasant look on non powdercoated clotheslines. Galvanizing a steel part means that it needs to be hot dipped in molten non ferrous metals to coat the steel. The Austral products are galvanized on both the inside and the outside of the tubes to help prevent rust. All Austral products are galvanized whether they are finnished in a powder coated finish or not. "Other" clothesline manufactures sometime zinc coat their clotheslines resulting in a inferior product. ( see zinc )
A rotary clothesline is one which is mounted on a single column and has four arms extending horizontally with cables connected to enable clothes to be hung out to dry. Rotarys have a winding mechanism so the user can adjust the height to the desired level. They can also revolve enabling maximum drying capabilities.

Zinc is an inferior form of rust protection and is usually found on cheap clothesline makes including well known ones. Zinc is plated onto the steel using electrolysis, this forms a very thin corrosive layer that doesnt last long at all. Galvanizing is the only way to properly protect steel from rust. All Austral products are galvanized. ( See galvanized )
Retractable
A retractable clothesline is one which has a cabinet in which the lines are stored while not in use. When the clothesline is needed, you pull the lines out of the cabinet and fix them onto the supplied bracket on the opposing wall or post. Austral retractables come in a variety of formats including mounting from a wall to wall or post to post or any combination of the two. Retractables have a locking device to prevent sagging while in use.
Line tension lock
Austral clotheslines come with a line tension lock that is second to none. You may have previously seen clotheslines with loose and haggard lines on them, this is because all lines eventually sag especially the cheap stuff. Austral have no such problems as Austral is the only clothesline you can buy with a levered easy to use line tension lock forever banishing loose and saggy lines.
Powder coating
Austral clotheslines are coloured on a durable powder coat. Powder coating is much more durable than paint because it is baked on at high temperaters. This reduces scratches and scuffs. Powder coating also protects against rust and corrosion. Standard colors for most clotheslines is heritage green and beige. Special colors can be ordered.
Foldaways
Foldaways are the same as rotary's ( see rotary ) the difference is that foldaways are removable and can be put away for more space or for when guests come over to visit for entertaining.
Australian made
Fold downs
Fold downs are clotheslines that are either wall or ground mounted and are mounted in a vertical position. When you need to use your fold down you simple lift the clothesline frame up and it converts to a horizintal position, then when finnished fold down to the vertical position to gain more space in the yard.

Core drilling
Core drilling is a drilling exercise using a special concrete drill to drill, in our case, a 3 inch hole or holes in a concrete slab, rock or pavers to enable the clothesline to be concreted into the ground. This service is $80
for this service.
Wall mounted
Fold down clotheslines and retractable clotheslines can be mounted to a wall. Almost any wall will do, even brick and fibro. If the wall is clad then you will need to fix the clothesline through to the wall studs. Our clotheslines are made to suit the stud widths of the modern wall. If it doesnt fit then all you need to do is trim the clothesline down to the disired width with one simple cut to match the wall stud width.
Ground mount
Ground mounting a clothesline is easy even on concrete or rock or pavers, ( see core drilling ). Fold down clotheslines have an optional leg kit for ground mount and so do retractable clotheslines. This method is used when there is no wall in the desired place to fit a clothesline to a wall. Fit into soil, rock, concrete or pavers.
Ground socket
A ground socket is a sleave which is concreted into the ground in which the clothesline is inserted enabling you to remove the clothesline from the ground for extra space or a better looking garden. Austral ground sockets are well designed helping to prevent your clothesline from getting "stuck" in the socket effectively making them fixed rotarys. There is also a little cap to place over the hole when clothesline is removed for safety.
